NMU - Real Estate Finance Fundamentals

Friday, September 19, 2025 9:00 AM - Friday, September 26, 2025 12:00 PM (EDT)

Description

This two-day course will focus on debt and equity financing of income-producing real property. The course will look at both the private debt and equity markets for real estate finance and the commercial mortgage-backed securities market for debt financing. Crowdfunding and EB-5 financing will also be discussed.

The course will utilize lectures, case study discussions, videos, and practice exercises. The course considers real estate finance from the perspective of the users of capital (developers and property owners) and the sources of capital (lenders and equity investors).

The primary student outcomes are the ability to discuss and present a professional financing request for debt and equity, understand risks and how to structure the financing of commercial real estate, and appreciate the diverse ways financing can be used to influence community and neighborhood improvement.
