The Building Connections Mentorship Program provides a unique opportunity for real estate professionals of color to build lasting connections with NAIOP’s leadership through a three-month intensive mentorship program.. 

The 10 selected BCC participates will be paired with a NAIOP Board member for 8 one on one mentorship sessions. This program will take place virtually, with limited opportunities for face to face classes, pending government regulations. Important program dates are listed below.  

Cost: $350

Mentor Program Welcome Orientation + Goal Setting 
Date: April 5
Time: 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM 
Goal setting is the foundation of every successful mentoring relationship. During the welcome orientation, Mentors and Mentees will meet for the first time and will participate in the goal-setting activity together. 

• Get to know each other, career background, family and hobbies.
• Discuss what kind of guidance and direction mentee/mentor feel will help them most
•  Ask questions centred around what the mentee/mentor wants to gain from the relationship. 
•  Discuss mentee recent accomplishments and any setbacks to overcome 

Bi-Weekly Mentor/Mentee Meetings 
Date: April 5 – July 7
* Please arrange these meetings in advance according to mentor/mentee schedules. 

Round Table with Linda Dorcena Forry 
Date: May 18
Time: 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM
Join Linda Dorcena Forry as she moderators a panel of Commercial Real Estate Diversity Equity and Inclusion experts. Hear how firms are working to advance DEI in our industry and how they chose to address; policy, pipeline, what equity looks like and how to create an inclusive culture to retain talent.
*Mentors and Mentees will receive free admission to this program.

CRE Diversity Equity and Inclusion Summit
Date: June 16
Time: 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM 
For the past 3-years, Commercial Real Estate (CRE) trade organizations have joined together to present the Boston CRE Diversity Equity and Inclusion Summit. The year 2020 exposed the deep inequities in our health system, public safety, economic opportunities, and more — the Commercial Real Estate Industry must continue to work together towards an inclusive recovery that unlocks opportunity for more people.

Mentor Closing Dinner
Date: June 30
Time: 5:30 – 7:30 PM 

Now that your mentorship is coming to a close, it’s important to reflect on what you've learned, say thank you, and make sure you and your mentee/mentor are on the same page about what happens next. Talk about the future—what will your next steps be? Does your mentor have any parting advice for you? 

Things to consider:   How frequently do you want to communicate?  What are your preferred communication channels?   What kind of ongoing support is the mentee looking for? What kind of ongoing support is the mentor able to provide?
