Crisis Communications Seminar

Crisis Communications Seminar

Tuesday, October 1, 2024 (10:00 AM - 12:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

When does an operational issue – construction accident, community complaint, lawsuit by a tenant – tip into a reputational crisis? And when the unexpected happens, are you prepared to both address the substance, and the communication needs at the same time?

In this Crisis Communications Seminar for Real Estate Professionals, led by Diana Pisciotta, you will develop the skills needed to effectively manage a crisis with reputational implications and communications needs. This comprehensive course begins by helping participants determine when an operational emergency has the potential to turn into a reputational crisis. Attendees will gain a deep understanding of the key steps in crisis response, from initial assessment to resolution, ensuring they are prepared to handle any situation with confidence.

The course will review:

  • Identifying a crisis that will require enhanced communications
  • Meeting the five key expectations for a company in a crisis
  • Limiting the risk of misinformation and developing impactful messages
  • Prioritizing key audiences and creating the tools to reach them directly
  • Managing the media

A key focus will be on media relations. Participants will learn how to effectively interact with both traditional and social media during a crisis, crafting clear and impactful messages that maintain public trust and protect the company's reputation. The course will also cover the expectations for a company's response during a crisis, blending operational actions with strategic communications to maintain trust of your key audiences.

The seminar will include real-life case studies drawn from various facets of the commercial real estate industry, including project permitting, development, construction, and operations. These case studies provide practical insights and highlight successful strategies for crisis management.

Instructor:

Diana Pisciotta, President of Denterlein, has more than 20 years of experience managing complex crisis situations for a wide range of companies, including: private developers, publicly traded real estate firms, property owners and managers, construction firms, and professional services firms serving the real estate industry.
